Mission Guides - Commencing in January 2012

Volunteers are urgently required to help as guides during the home visits by the Missioners. For the volunteers’ convenience, guides will be assigned to facilitate the home visits in the same zone of their residence. This is also an opportune time for the guides to get to know their fellow Catholics in their neighbourhood.

Volunteers for the home visits will be known as Guides. There will be a Team Leader (TL) assigned to each zone. The TL will update and provide instructions to the guides prior to the home visits. Guides are required to familiarise themselves with the locations of the homes prior to the visits and to introduce him / herself to the families and confirm the visit details. The guide is also required to look around the neighbourhood to identify any Catholic homes which may not be on the visit list and to update the PMT.

Actual visits will be from Monday to Thursday nights. Guides will meet the missioner and driver at CDM at 7:30pm and will set off after a short prayer together. Home visits will be from 8 – 10pm (about 20 min / home). The missioner, guide and driver will return to CDM together after the night’s home visits to complete the necessary admin work. On Friday night, volunteers are encouraged to join the families visited for a Group Mass at CDM.

Mission Drivers – Commencing in January 2012

Volunteers are urgently required to drive the Missioner to the blocks for the home visits. The TL will update and provide instructions to the driver prior to the home visit and the driver is required to familiarise oneself with the areas of visit. Volunteers must have a sheltered vehicle.

Prayer Team – Commencing in January 2012

We need volunteers to be part of the prayer team who will pray in Church during the missioners’ visit to the homes using a prepared set of daily prayers.

Group Mass - Commencing in January 2012

The Group Mass held every Friday at 8pm, is another important event of the mission as it is the culmination of the weekly home visits. During the Group Mass, the families visited in the same neighbourhood, with the volunteers and other PMT members will come together to celebrate Mass and meet each other, some for the first time, as a Neighbourhood Christian Community (NCC).

Hospitality / Welcome

In the spirit of the Mission, it is important to start the Friday occasion on a loving and welcoming atmosphere. To do so, we will require many volunteers to come forward to volunteer as friendly greeters to the parishioners coming for the Group Mass. Volunteers may be asked also to assist in other administrative duties like registration, ushering, attending to those with special needs and children etc.

Group Facilitators & Scribes

During the Group Mass, there will be a break-out session for small group sharing. We need group facilitators and scribes to help harvest the aspirations, needs, grievances of the community during the session.

Volunteers may be asked also to assist in other administrative duties like registration, ushering, attending to those with special needs and children etc.

Communications and Publicity – Required immediately

Audio-visual (AV)

We urgently need help in the AV activities which will involve the preparation of Powerpoints and photos for the Group Mass. Volunteers need only MS Office (especially Powerpoint) skills but more importantly, volunteers should have the enthusiasm and fervour to put together the week's mission visit in terms of photos and the Missioner's message so that the NCC gathered at the Group Mass will feel belonged.

Communications, Publicity and Design Work

Communications and publicity are critical components in ensuring the effectiveness of the mission’s message. To sustain this effort, we urgently require writers, graphic designers, webpage updates & design, photographers etc. This is an opportune time to be involved in one of our parish’s biggest event. As the PM is intense and compact, volunteers are required to have the basic skills in the areas mentioned above.

F&B Team - Commencing in January 2012

Volunteers are needed to help organize the refreshments at CDM during the missiom. Besides assisting with the food, volunteers may be called upon to prepare food / drinks. Volunteers will also assist to clear up after the fellowship.

Admin and Other Support

As there will be many areas which require support e.g. in the administration (back room and paper work) of the PM, we seek more volunteers to come forward especially those who are not working, retired or who can work volunteer during the weekday / office hours.
