Church of Divine Mercy Parish Mission 2012

One in Love, Mercy & Compassion

Why we are embarking on a Parish Mission

It has been almost two years since the official opening of our Church of Divine Mercy on 9 Jan 2010. Since then, our parish has "matured" in many ways. We are like a melting pot of a very diverse and vibrant community. Our parishioners come from other Churches, locally and from neighbouring countries. Early this year, we had our first Parish Assembly, which saw the formation of our first Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) and the election of the PPC Committee and EXCO. One of the major initiatives of the PPC is the Parish Mission (PM) 2012, which will be launched in January, right through Lent and culminating on our DM Feast Day.

The main objectives of the PM are:

To renew the faith of our parishioners

To create a sense of belonging

To strengthen our Neighbourhood Christian Communities (NCC)

Our Parish Mission Theme

Since we initiated our PM plans in the middle of 2011, the PPC, ministry members and representatives from the NCC have discerned on a theme which will best capture the spirit of our parish mission. The Parish Mission theme of “One in Love, Mercy & Compassion” was chosen as it resonated strongly with the Divine qualities needed to unite and “fire” up our community.

How will CDM carry out our Parish Mission?
We are blessed that the Redemptorist Fathers have agreed to help us with this journey. The Redemptorists have immense experience in such work and they have successfully completed a similar programme at the Church of St. Michael in 2011. We were also privileged to have had the opportunity to send a team comprising of the PPC, Ministry representatives and volunteers from our NCC to understudy the programme. The Redemptorists will also give special attention to our youth who exert a powerful influence in modern society.
