Our Catechumens in deep reflection in during the Rite of Election Following the Rite of Election, our elects will undergo the rites of Scrutinies on the 3rd to 5th Sunday of Lent. The Gospel readings for the Scrutinites hopes to inspire the elects, a desire for the same salvation, a spirit of repentance and to gain an understanding of sin to experience the true freedom of the children of God. Let us continue to pray for our elects and the RCIA team as they prepare for the big celebration of baptism on Easter. |

Last Sunday 26 Feb 2012, catechumens and candidates from the North, Serangoon, and East District parishes gathered and were presented before His Grace, Archbishop Nicholas Chia, in the Rite of Election celebrated at Church of the Holy Spirit. The final turn in their RCIA journey with a Spirit-filled desire to be baptised. The Church recognises that God had chosen them. With the celebration of the Rite of Election, they will now be called Elect who have formally enrolled their names to be baptised at this coming Easter Vigil. Let us pray for these Elect as they continue on their final journey before receiving the Sacrament of Baptism at Easter Vigil, to be commissioned to a Mission ..... the Mission of Christ. |

The Catholic Church celebrated World Mission Sunday on 23 Oct 2011. Being a disciple of Christ is not base on knowing scripture alone nor how much we know of Jesus. We are called to transform our Christian beliefs into actions. Purity of actions from the heart. The catechumens from the RCIA Ministry were led by their facilitators on a journey to Sree Narayana Mission - a home for the aged sick. Initially, a sense of apprehension and awkwardness crept in. How do I interact with these elderly folks? I have never spoon-fed an elderly person before? How will my presence make them happy. With prayer to start the day, the Holy Spirit guided the members on an enlightened journey that brought much joy and cheerfulness to the residents of the home. It has always been more joyful to give than to receive, where your giving touch the hearts of those around you that brightens the face with a warm smile. Simple works of mercy.

It is never easy to walk on the path towards Christ...especially the path that is often narrow and dificult to tread. But with prayers and the help from the parish community, it makes the journey of these Inquirers more meaningful and easier to bear as they take a step closer to Christ in the Rite of Acceptance.

A Gift for Our Inquirers (Bible
Sunday, 17 July 2011)
[this para is adapted from this week's bulletin] Bible Sunday was rather special for our inquirers. They were formally introduced to their sponsors, who will journey with them throughout their RCIA. The highlight however was the gift of the Holy Bible to each inquirer. May the Spirit will reveal Himself to them through the Holy Word during the course of their year long programme. Appreciating CDM (Church Tour, 10 July 2011) [this para is adapted from last week's bulletin - to include last week's photo] Our inquirers were treated to a tour of our parish as part of their RCIA programme. Br. Benedict gamely brought the group through the various features of our Church and the special meaning behind them. He gave particular attention to explaining the sanctity of the Eucharist. Our inquirers found out that there are different classes of relics and were intrigued by the collar bone relic of St. Faustina placed within the altar. It was an informative session for all as enquirers had the opportunity to ask further questions about the Church's features, symbols, sacraments and traditions. |
